About Me

My name is Jacob Potantus. I'm a 20-year-old computer science student attending Palm Beach Atlantic University. I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but I now live in Tampa, Florida. I am also a dedicated and passionate cross-country runner who was in a state-ranked cross country team. Ever since I was young, I was always fascinated by computers and how they worked. Using them felt like entering another world that could offer me tools and experiences that I had never known. In high school, I started learning everything I could about technology and computers, and I am eager to learn more about advances in tech in the upcoming years. I am a quick learner and a hard worker; once I set my mind on something, I will always find a way to finish it, no matter how long it may take.

Experience

I have experience in Python, C++, SQL, HTML, and CSS. I am also certified in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Access, Adobe Photoshop, and Indesign. I have worked for several clients and have scanned their networks to inform them of any potential vulnerabilities. I have also completed several HTB challenges and Tryhackme courses.

Current Goals

Currently, I want to enter the cybersecurity industry and work as an information security analyst or an IT manager. When I was young, my father's business was struck with fraud and hundreds of thousands of dollars went missing from my father's account. This event made me realize how important cybersecurity is in today's landscape. While I am still undergoing my bachelor's program at PBA, I will graduate in 2027, and I will be available for work by then.
